Privacy Policy

Legal Type is a free typing-practice tool for bar exam study. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.

What we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information (such as your name) from Google, and we store only a display name derived from it. We never see or store your Google password. If you sign up with email and password, your password is stored in hashed form by our authentication provider and is never visible to us.

Usage data. To make the app work, we store your practice activity: typing speed, accuracy, drills completed, subjects practiced, streaks, and similar performance statistics tied to your account.

Technical data. Our hosting and infrastructure providers automatically log standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and performance purposes.

We do not collect payment information (the app is free), and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

How we use it

We use your information only to operate the app: authenticating you, saving your progress and statistics, displaying your performance history, and maintaining the security and reliability of the service. That’s it.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for advertising. There are no ads on Legal Type.

Who processes your data

Legal Type runs on third-party infrastructure that processes data on our behalf:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting
  • Vercel — application hosting and standard server logs
  • Google— used only when you choose “Continue with Google” to sign in

These providers process your data solely to provide their services to us, under their own security and privacy commitments.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required for security or legal reasons.

Your choices and rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing contact@legal-type.com. If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under California law, including the right to know what personal information we hold about you and to request its deletion. We honor these requests regardless of where you live.

Cookies

We use only the cookies necessary for authentication (keeping you signed in). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Security

We rely on industry-standard providers (Supabase, Vercel) for encryption in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we collect little, and we protect what we collect.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date above and note the change on this page. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
